In order to increase the visibility, engagement and presence of women in science, Hugues Abriel, former Director of the National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) TransCure (Switzerland), together with Sharona Gordon from the University of Washington in Seattle (USA), have created this independent website where you may find researchers in Biophysics who identify as women. The focus is mainly on scientists working on membrane transporters, ion channels, membrane biology and biophysics. However, these categories are not restrictive.

The main goals of this list are twofold:

(1) serving as a tool for conference organizers searching for speakers

(2) helping scientists and/or students to find research groups led by women

Scientists in three different stages of their career -tenured, pre-tenured, or senior-post-doc- are listed. The “Find a Scientist” tool allows you to find researchers by their research methods, research keywords as well as their names or countries.

The Women Plus in Biophysics site is currently supported by the University of Bern (Switzerland) and the Section “Ion Channels and Membrane Transporters” of LS2.
